Meet the Grants Staff
Beth Shumate, Director of Grant Development, started at TCC in February of 2005. To date, she has procured federal and state government grants for TCC totaling nearly $7 million and serves on TCC's Faculty Innovation Grant committee. Beth has written successfully to funding agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education TRIO programs, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Oklahoma Arts Council, and several other local government and private funding streams. She was awarded grants training certificates, such as The Grantsmanship Center International, Inc. (TGCI), a world-class premier grant-training institute; the Oklahoma State Regents Summer Academy; Southwestern Oklahoma State University Writing Winning Proposals workshop; and attends several agency-specific grants training workshops to keep current with federal, state, and local funding opportunities and events. From 2001 to 2004, Beth worked at an agency that contracted with the State of Oklahoma to provide services to people with developmental disabilities. During 2000-01, Beth served as an Americorps*VISTA for a literacy program called AVID Readers, where she assisted in the development of a City of Tulsa Local Law Enforcement Block Grant to establish AVID’s family literacy component. As Director of Grant Development, Beth aligns College and community needs with TCC's Mission, Vision,and Core Values; leads and facilitates grant proposal writing teams; writes and edits grants; serves as primary liaison among TCC faculty and staff, community organizations, and grant program officers; oversees the maintenance of the grants tracking database; researches grant opportunities, data and literature on programmatic best practices; and attends specific grant-related activities and trainings. She holds a baccalaureate degree in sociology and a minor in Spanish from the University of Tulsa. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Administration with a focus in Education Administration at the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa. Daniel Marangoni, Grant Writer, joined TCC in 2008 as an adjunct faculty member and now serves the college as a grant writer for the Grant Development Office. Daniel holds a bachelor's degree in English and Philosophy from John Carroll University and has several years of experience as a writing instructor. Since joining with TCC, Daniel has completed several grants training seminars with The Grantsmanship Center International, Inc., The Foundation Center, and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. He has worked on successful proposals for the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Science Foundation. Even outside the office, Daniel continues to devote much of his time to writing and research. His work has been recognized by Bob Jones University, The University of Buffalo, Pleasant Grove Christian Academy, and the Oklahoma Association of Developmental Educators.
