TCC hosts STEM roundtable discussion
Roughly 25 Tulsa area businesses recently gathered to discuss the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance at the Tulsa Community College Center for Creativity. The business roundtable facilitated discussions about what STEM mentorship means to industry and the perceived impact of mentorship programs.
Tulsa is a finalist in a national competition called US2020 City Competition about STEM mentoring for young students. The participation and information collected from Tulsa area businesses will be part of the next phase for Tulsa’s participation in the national competition as the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance prepares for the round II application due Feb. 15.
According to the US2020, there will be 1.2 million U.S. job openings in STEM-related fields by 2018, with a significant shortage of qualified applicants to fill them.
