Officials break ground on new clinic
Tulsa Community College administrators, TCC Foundation members and community leaders met Oct. 16 to break ground on the Nate Waters Physical Therapy Assistant Clinic in downtown Tulsa. Speakers were Ronald Looney, TCC Board of Regents Chair; Dr. Tom McKeon, TCC President; Mary Shaw, TCCF Chair; Jake Henry Jr., Saint Francis Health System President and CEO; Don Walker, Morningcrest Foundation Chair; and Felicia Gourley, PTA student.
The Nate Waters Physical Therapy Clinic will provide ample classroom, office and lab space for TCC’s Physical Therapy Assistant Program, enabling students to complete their clinical training on-site.
The clinic, expected to be completed in fall 2014, will be an asset to students as well as the community because students will train with actual patients who are benefitted by physical therapy, but are either uninsured or underinsured. The clinic will give the College the opportunity to enhance student learning outcomes while meeting a great humanitarian need.
