TCC President is named to Governor’s Council

Tulsa Community College President Tom McKeon has been appointed to work with Governor Mary Fallin on the three ‘E’s’- Education, Economic Development and Employment as a new member of the Governor’s Council for Workforce and Economic Development.

“I am excited about this opportunity to work with leaders from across the state to ensure that we are moving Oklahoma forward—in education, economic development and employment,” McKeon said.  “I believe those issues are central to Tulsa Community College’s mission to meet Northeastern Oklahoma’s education and workforce needs.”

The Council consists of state business leaders, political leaders, state agency directors, labor representatives, local elected officials, community-based organizations, economic development entities and education professionals.

The Council creates a place for discussion, debate and recommendations regarding Oklahoma’s present and future workforce issues. In addition, the Council plays a key role as the vehicle to establish the state vision for Workforce and Economic Development integration, which provides a competitive advantage for Oklahoma by achieving wealth-creation for businesses, individuals and communities across the state.

“I am truly grateful to be appointed to the council, and I look forward to the work in 2013 as the state’s economic picture continues to improve,” said McKeon.  The Council is led by a private sector majority. Steve Hendrickson, The Boeing Company, is chair.
