PBL students win top honors at nationals

Tulsa Community College’s Phi Beta Lambda chapters recently competed at the Future Business Leaders of America PBL National Leadership Conference in San Antonio in June. The TCC Metro Campus chapter received the following awards and recognitions under the leadership of faculty adviser Mitchell Ober:

  • First place – Largest Local Chapter Membership (200 Members) – Mountain Plains Region
  • First place – Largest Local Chapter Professional Division Membership (15 Members) Mountain Plains Region
  • Second place – Largest Local Chapter Membership – National
  • Fifth place – Hannah Sutton – Economic Analysis & Decision Making
  • Sixth place– Julie Hildebrand – Retail Management
  • Seventh place – Jerry Powers, David Short and Donovan Mohler – Web Site Design
  • Seventh place – Scott Whitaker – Information Management
  • Eighth place – Life Myrie – International Business
  • 10th place – Tyson Baker – Small Business Management
  • 10th place – Adam Stokes – Marketing Concepts
  • Recognition – PBL Big Ten Chapters
  • Recognition – 2012 Hollis & Kitty Guy Gold Seal Chapter
  • Recognition – PBL Most Outstanding Chapter – National
  • Recognition – 15 Individual Student Awards – Membership Madness

Charles Bearden, a Hospitality Management student and a member of the TCC West Campus chapter, was a finalist in the Hospitality Management category and finished third in the nation in the retail management category.

Others representing the TCC West Campus chapter were Morgan Melot, Kathy Portley, Ida Hull and Charles Bearden. Accompanying the students on the trip were Ann Taff and Jim O’Mealey, faculty advisers.
