Center for Creativity, Tina Peña to receive Nania Awards
Tulsa Partners’ annual Nania Awards Banquet and Fundraising Auction is honoring Tulsa Community College’s Center for Creativity and Professor Tina Peña June 19 at the Tulsa Garden Center, located at 2435 South Peoria Avenue. This year’s Nania Awards recognize local individuals and corporations who have served our region in building a disaster-resistant and sustainable community.
TCC’s Center for Creativity is being awarded the Special Corporate Campaign Award for producing Language & Culture Bank’s Public Service Announcements on disaster preparedness, done in multiple languages with the assistance of various cultural groups. This award is given for a one time project, campaign or event that is an outstanding example of using partnerships to promote mitigation, preparedness, response and/or sustainability. Tina Peña is receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award for her work as a volunteer with Tulsa Partners Language & Culture Bank. This award is given to outstanding volunteers of Tulsa Partners, Inc. and its associated programs.
“Nania” is a Cherokee word that means “All Together.” The Nania Awards recognize the outstanding work of local corporate and nonprofit entities and individuals in building a disaster-resistant and sustainable community.
