A Tulsa Community College student who has graduated from an Oklahoma high school and has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership qualities and community/campus involvement can be the next recipient of a $1,000 George and Donna Nigh Public Service Scholarship. The scholarship will become effective after TCC’s winning student completes the 15th Annual George and Donna Nigh Leadership Scholarship Academy in Oklahoma City, to be held March 2-6. At this event, TCC’s winner will join thirty-three other student scholars from across the state for sessions with leaders of State government and the private sector. Social events will also be included for the students during their time at the Academy.
The Nigh Academy provides all lodging, meals, educational materials and ground transportation at no cost to the winning students. The George and Donna Nigh Leadership Scholarship Academy is supported annually by the State Regents for Higher Education and the Oklahoma State Legislature.
Instructors, organization advisors and any other TCC staff with knowledge of exceptional TCC students who might qualify for this award should encourage those students to apply. The offices of the Dean of Student Services on each campus have application forms, which must be completed and submitted to a Dean’s office by Tuesday, November 8 at 5:00 p.m. A current ID photo suitable for publishing and a brief biographical sketch must accompany each student’s application.
Applications from all four campuses will be reviewed by TCC before the final decision is made. The selected student’s information will be sent to the Nigh Academy for processing. Please check with the Dean’s office on your campus for further details.
