TCC starts its first Internet radio station

It’s official: TCC is starting its first Internet radio station this fall, and students can enroll now to become TCC’s first radio personalities. TCC Student Radio Online, “The Grid,” will play music provided by College Music Journal, which is the country’s leading authority on music for college students. To get involved, students can choose from two 12-week classes, Radio Production 1 (JRMC 1613) and/or Radio Laboratory (JRMC 2623). Both classes start Sept. 17.

In Radio Production 1, students will use the latest voice-tracking software and will produce public service announcements and station promotions. One class section will meet 9:30 to 11:20 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; the other section will meet from 6 to 9:50 p.m. on Mondays.

Students will also do PSAs and station promotions in Radio Laboratory, but they will also be on the radio live several hours a week. This class is self-paced. In order to enroll in this class, students need some previous radio experience or need to have taken Radio Production 1.

TCC Student Radio Online is made possible by the TCC Foundation, which provides funds for special programs, student scholarships and more at the College.

Beginning Oct. 1, The Grid will be available to hear online at http://tulsa.streamon.fm. For more information, call Professor Ed Taylor at 918-595-7217.

Students can enroll online through TED at www.tulsacc.edu
