LPN-RN Advanced Placement Program F.A.Q.

What do I need to start?
An official copy of your LPN transcript and an unrestricted LPN license in the State of Oklahoma.
You will be in class on Saturdays and take an online class that you can do at home or wherever you have a computer and Internet access.
We are keeping the class size to about 20. These will be the people you start with and go through the program with, so you can “buddy up” with someone you know.

NO. You can start the General Ed classes and never have worked as an LPN. However, we do recommend that you have had some experience before starting the nursing classes.

YES. You can be awarded up to 19 hours of college credit after completing certain requirements of the program.

It will depend on the number of college credits you have earned before starting the program. From zero college credit hours, it is possible to finish in approximately 3 years, and be ready to sit for the NCLEX-RN.

YES. If you already have college credits, or if you want to “challenge” courses, you can cut down the time needed.
TCC accepts several CLEP tests for credit, and after you complete the “Bridge” class, you can challenge the third level of nursing classes. That means you could get credit for an entire semester of nursing.
Like any college, TCC charges tuition per credit hour. Most of the classes you will need will be 3 or 4 credit hours. There is a system in place to allow students to pay their tuition off throughout the semester. The hourly charge is set by the Board of Regents, and is cheaper than private schools and most of the 4-year schools in the area.
Of course you will have to buy books, and some supplies for the science courses (lab coat, goggles, etc); when you get to the Nursing classes, you will need uniforms and nametags. Finally, there are costs involved with graduation and NCLEX.

YES. TCC has a Student Financial Services Department available to help you file for aid. You can also check with your employer – many of our current students are on scholarships through their jobs.

YES. TCC Nursing Division has an LPN-RN Coordinator to help with enrollment, direct you where to go for help and answer any further questions.
