What are the qualifications for part time instructors?

University-Parallel Area Qualifications are:
Master's degree in the appropriate field of study preferred or bachelor's degree with equivalent combination of training and experience. Appropriate certification or demonstrated proficiency may be substituted in performance or skill classes.

Technical-Occupational Area Qualifications are:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in the appropriate field of study. Master's degree preferred. Appropriate certification or demonstrated proficiency may be substituted in performance or skill classes.

Prefer teaching experience at the community college or university level.

Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.

What is the compensation for teaching?

The current rate of compensation for teaching is:
Lecture Hourly rate per Contact Hour - $44.40
Lab Hourly rate per Contact Hour - $22.20
Three-Hour Lecture Class - $2,220.00

What classes are available for part time instructors?
Part time teaching assignments are available in most subject areas. Associate Deans employ adjunct faculty. Contact an Associate Dean to inquire about employment opportunities: Business and Information Technology, Liberal Arts, Science and Mathematics, or Continuing Education (non-credit courses).
