Continuing Ed FAQs 

How do I find a continuing education course using TED?
You can select View Class Offerings HereThen you will need to select the term in which the course is offered (typically fall runs from August into December, spring begins in December and runs into May, and summer begins in May and runs through July.  Continuing Education classes are listed as Sp Noncredit Continuing Ed, Su Noncredit Continuing Ed, and Fall Noncredit Continuing Ed.  You will then have several search criteria that you can use to narrow your search with.  You must select one or more categories from the Subject area, but all other choices are optional.  Press Class Search.  You should see the selections that are available.  Be sure to write down the five digit number found next to the course title.  It is called the CRN.  For continuing education courses, the number will begin with a 7 in the fall, an 8 in the spring, and a 9 in summer.

How do I register in a continuing education course?
There are FIVE ways to register.

  • Online, go to www.tulsacc.edu/TED
  • Fax, send your registration information to 918-595-7993
  • Mail, send your registration information to TCC Continuing Education, 6111 E Skelly Dr, Room 202, Tulsa, OK 74135
  • Walk-in to any campus to the Continuing Education or Student Enrollment Services office during business hours, M-F during the fall and spring semesters and M-Th during the summer semester
  • Corporate billing, call 918-595-7200 to learn more about this method of registration

When do I need to pay for my class? 
Fees are due at the time of enrollment.  Failure to pay will result in you being dropped from the class.

Can you hold a spot for me and let me make payments?
Unfortunately, we don't have the capability for that.  Payment is due at the time of enrollment.

How do I drop a Continuing Education class?
You can go online to TED (www.tulsacc.edu/TED) , access your account and your schedule.  If the drop down next to your class gives you the choice to drop, select it, and submit.  You should get a confirmation that you have been dropped.  If there is no choice, or you can't access TED, contact the Continuing Education staff at 918-595-7200 to request a drop.  If you are making the request during the proper time frame for the class, you will receive the drop and your refund will be automatically processed.  If you are making a request after the proper time, your options will be discussed with you.

What is your refund policy?
100% refund will be given if a written, telephone, faxed, or in person request is made to the Continuing Education office 2 full business days (M-F) before the first scheduled class meeting.  Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance.  The Continuing Education department reserves the right to amend this policy for specialized events and programs. 

Who is responsible for Continuing Education classes?
We have staff who oversee particular areas of programming.

How do I get a book for my class?
You have two options:

  • 1. Go to the campus bookstore where your class is being offered
  • 2. Go online to http://tccstores.tulsacc.edu, select buy books, select buy textbooks now, select Continuing Education then the term choice will come in and you need to select it also. Then you will select CE again and press on the button that says continue to get course materials. You will then see the CRNs for the courses that have textbooks. Check on the one(s) you need and press on the continue to get course materials button. You will then see a picture of the book and you may have the choice to buy a new or used book. Select the one you want and then press the Shopping Cart button if you are done. You will then be able to go back, update your cart, or continue to the checkout.

I've lost my schedule.  How do I find it online?
Go to www.tulsacc.edu/TED and select TED Self Service.  Enter your User ID and Pin.  Press Login.   Select the Student Tab and click on Registration.  You can view your schedule by selecting View and Print Your Class Schedule.

I need a receipt for my class.  How do I get one?
Go to www.tulsacc.edu/TED and select TED Self Service.  Enter your User ID and Pin.  Press Login.   Select the Student Tab and click on Registration.  You can print your bill by selecting account balance.

What happens with my class if the weather is bad?
For inclement weather, please watch the local news stations, check the TCC website, and sign up for TCC Alerts to find out about the latest closings. If the college is closed due to inclement weather and your class is longer than 3 weeks, your missed class will not be rescheduled. If you miss two class sessions in one week or if your class is shorter than 2 weeks, the class will be rescheduled and you will be notified when the college re-opens.

What is a CEU?
A continuing education unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized unit of measurement of successful participation in a non-credit continuing education class.  One CEU is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and quality instruction.  Not all classes award CEUs.

Can I get a tax deduction for taking your classes?
The expense of continuing education when taken to maintain and improve professional skills may be tax deductible.  Contact your tax advisor for complete details.

What about parking?
College-owned parking lots are available at all TCC campuses. Students who attend classes at these campuses and/or satellite locations where parking is provided are assessed a parking fee based upon the number of hours in which they are enrolled. This fee is included in the course cost.

Do I need a parking permit?
All TCC campuses require parking permits. You will receive a temporary parking permit in the first class session to display in your car. Even though you won't have the permit before class, go ahead and park in a campus lot.  The permit should be displayed in your car's back window on the upper right side.

What will I need for class?
For most Continuing Education classes, you will receive handout materials and/or a training manual, plus any other supplies needed for the course, when you arrive for class. Costs for these materials are included in the course fee unless stated otherwise in the course description.  For those courses needing extra supplies, a supply list will typically be posted online for you to access before the first class session.  Check www.tulsacc.edu/ce and select the area your class is in for the posted supply list.

What happens if I sign up for a class and later find I cannot attend?

Refunds cannot be issued for non-attendance. All fees will be refunded if class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Refunds may require up to 14 days to process. The Continuing Education Department reserves the right to amend this policy for specialized events and programs. 

Who should take non-credit computer courses?
Any individual wanting to acquire computer skills for the workplace, small business or home use. Our courses are short-term with hands-on training. Class size is small to ensure more individualized attention.

What is a prerequisite and how do I know if I need to take it?
All individuals are expected to have a working knowledge and experience in basic computer operations before enrolling in software specific courses.

  • 1. Proficiency in mouse usage: click, double-click, drag, using the right and left mouse button
  • 2. PC hardware, including: an understanding of storage devices (floppy, hard drive, CD-ROM); memory terms
    (RAM/ROM); peripherals; printing devices
  • 3. Understanding differences among word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  • 4. Understanding of directories and subdirectories
  • 5. Proficiency in Windows: disk formatting, use of recycle bin, copying files, deleting files, creating new folders

If you lack skills listed in items 1, 2 & 3 above, you should enroll in Intro to Personal Computers. If you lack skills listed in items 4 & 5, you should enroll in Windows XP Basics. If you already possess the skills described above or you have completed the recommended courses, you are ready to enroll in most of our other courses.

Is there a senior citizen discount or audit?
Continuing Education classes are instructionally self-supporting, so no discounts are offered.  Audits are only available for college credit courses.
