Distance Learning (Internet, Telecourse, and ITV) Fall 2008 Courses Key/Definitions
O Online These courses are conducted fully via web-based instruction and collaboration.  Courses may require proctored assessments and may include opportunities for face-to-face orientations, but there will be no other on-campus attendance requirements. Please review the course syllabus for specific information. Students must have access to the Internet on a regular basis. Some classes may require daily access.
ITV ITV Interactive Television class.  Instructor and student are not necessarily in the same location but communicate via two-way video/audio connection.
TV Telecourse Course content is delivered via TCC’s cable channel.  Textbooks and study guides may also be required for content.  On-campus exams may be required. Content also is available over the Internet via streaming video.
PR Proctored Tests This course requires proctored tests.  The instructor may require on-campus testing or testing at an approved remote testing site.  Remote testing sites may charge additional fees.  Each instructor will establish his/her own policy regarding the testing location.  Please review the course syllabus for specific proctoring information.
OR On-Campus Orientation Attendance in an on-campus orientation is required at the start of this course.
LC Live Chat Required This course requires a live chat session or sessions at specific times during the semester.  Please check the syllabus for required times.
BR Broadband Required Broadband Internet access required for streaming video and other multimedia content.  Highly recommend a multimedia capable computer.
LK Lab Kit Required This course requires the purchase of a laboratory kit used to complete assignments at a distance.  Please consult syllabus for the contents of the lab kit or information regarding the purchase of the kit.
SS Special Software Required The course requires additional computer software to complete the class.  Please check the syllabus for information regarding the software titles and versions needed to complete this course.
BB Broadband Recommended Multimedia and large files are used in this course.  Dial up access will cause a considerable slow down for some of the course content.
SP Self-Paced The course work is self-paced.  Due dates on assignments and exams may be set as 'target' dates, but no deductions will be made for late assignments or tests.  All work is due by the end of the semester.
