Process of Service-learning
Students in service learning classes prepare for Service learning component of a course through a simple four step process. The four steps are preparation, action, reflection and demonstration.
Students are prepared for the service learning activity by learning the skills and knowledge necessary to underpin the practical aspect of the course
Students take part in a structured activity which incorporates the need to use learned skills and apply relevant knowledge.
Students reflect on the services performed and how it has impacted the community. They also reflect on how they have applied their knowledge and skills in the service learning experience. Students should record their reflections in as the SL experiences is happening in order to capture an accurate record.
Students evidence what they have gained from the service learning experience. this can be a presentation, a report, portfolio, a group presentation
