RISE Program - TRIO SSS

 

 

What is RISE-TRIO SSS?

 

The RISE Program is a federally funded Title IV grant program through the United States Department of Education. The acronym RISE stands for Reflective, Integrated, Scholarly and Excellence. RISE is committed to the academic success of students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • First generation status (neither parent has earned a four year baccalaureate degree).
  • Economically disadvantaged (as determined by federal guidelines).
  • Students with documented disabilities and registered with the disABLED Student Resource Center (located in 331B Metro Campus).

Additional qualifications for application include:
 

  • Demonstrated academic need.
  • A minimum of a 2.3 cumulative GPA in high school or if a non-traditional
    student, having earned at least a 2.3 cumulative GPA at the college

    level.
  • Student must be enrolled in college level classes. If taking developmental education courses (zero level courses) student must also be concurrently enrolled in college level courses.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least ¾ time attendance (9 credit
    hours), with preference given to students who are attending full-time
    (12 credit hours).
  • Student must be degree seeking and have less than 30 college credits
    earned towards their degree plan.

If admitted a student must attend three academic advisement sessions per semester with a RISE counselor and attend three workshops focused on professional, personal and academic enrichment.

Location:  The RISE Program is located on the Metro Campus in Room 1020, directly across from Academic Advising.. 

Application Requirements:

  1. Student must fill out the RISE Program Application 
  2. Student must complete the personal statement (review the application checklist for more information on this).
  3. Student must submit a copy of their 2011 completed Federal Taxes, or their parents if they are Dependent for the purposes of financial aid. Please visit the TCC Financial Aid link to access more information about FAFSA and TCC Financial Aid.
  4. All items should be submitted as one package to the RISE Program office: TCC Metro Campus, Suite 1020, 909 S. Boston Avenue, Tulsa, OK, 74112. Or they can be scanned and emailed to pdyer1@tulsacc.edu or faxed to 918-595-8972.
  5. Students will be contacted for an interview. Please provide two contact phone numbers.
