From Tokyo to Paris, Sydney to Buenos Aires, people gather at TEDx events around the world to hear the best ideas bubbling up in their communities. These independently organized TED-style events let more people experience TED’s signature platform of “ideas worth spreading.”
The Center for Creativity will hold a TEDx event, under license from the TED organization, in April of 2020. Sponsored by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, and with a watch party at The Gathering Place, speakers will explore diverse and thought-provoking topics that will spark curiosity, inspiration, and action.
TEDxTulsaCC will include an art exhibition based on the theme of the event: INSTINCTS. Consider human instincts of any kind: ancient and modern, selfish and altruistic, personal and collective, constructive and destructive. Artists are invited to submit two-dimensional work for possible inclusion. Proposals for new work or works-in-progress will be considered.
Each artist selected for the exhibition will be paid a $75 honorarium after the artwork is delivered. Collaborative works created by more than one artist will receive only one honorarium. Artwork may be offered for sale, but all details of the transaction, including any applicable taxes, must be handled solely by the artist. No commission will be assessed.
Artwork must be delivered to the Center for Creativity on Monday, April 20 or Tuesday, April 21 and picked up on Monday June 1 or Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Artists may also ship work at their own expense, including return shipping. Artwork must be ready to hang/display. Please consider how the artwork will be safely exhibited, considering that no holes can be nailed or drilled into the walls or floor of the exhibition space. Work will be displayed via a hook and wire hanging system. Artists may also build/create their own display solution. All art exhibitions are deemed at the artist's own risk.
Submissions are via email to Cindy Armstrong, firstname.lastname@example.org, and should include artist’s full name and contact information. Each artist may submit up to three pieces for consideration, and each submission should include:
-up to three images per artwork, in JPG format. Sketches for new works are also acceptable.
- artwork dimensions
-brief written description
-special display considerations, if applicable
Submissions are due on Friday, January 10 at 11 pm. Selected artists will be notified the week of January 20. The exhibition will run April 27 – May 30, 2020. Contact Cindy Armstrong with questions, 918-595-7339.
