Reception & Art Workshop with Chiyoko Myose
Come enjoy refreshments and create with guest artist Chiyoko Myose from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 in the McKeon Center for Creativity. Using yarn and 2-liter bottles, participants will create a work of art that can be used as a lampshade or other object. Registration is required. All registered participants must bring an unopened 2-liter bottle.
Chiyoko Myose is a Japanese artist based in Wichita, Kansas. She was born and raised in Wakayama, Japan. She holds a BA in English Literature from Doshisha Women’s College in Kyoto, Japan. After she moved to the U.S. in 1995, she pursued art and received a BFA in painting from Wichita State University in 2011. Her works are primarily painting and installation arts.
Chiyoko has been showing her works through exhibitions and commissions regionally and nationally as well as in Japan and Italy. She completed a residency program in Umbria, Italy during the summer of 2009. Her recent solo exhibitions are typically large scale, including the one at Mid America Arts Alliance in Kansas City and Oklahoma Contemporary in Oklahoma City. She was awarded several awards including a Koch Cultural Trust Enabling Grant, a Wichita Emerging Artists Award, and a Wichita Arts Council Artist Grant.
