TCC recently began a Leadership and Scholarship Development program called (TBL) TrueBlue LEAD (leadership, education and development). The program’s focus is on developing TCC students holistically through leadership development and service to the college. This year, 57 students were selected and oriented.
A large component of the program is individual mentorship, connection with TCC, and personal development. As higher education professionals, we know the more contact a student has and belonging they feel, the higher the likelihood of retention and success.
This is where you come in. The program is in need of faculty and staff to mentor the TBL students. Opportunities include individual mentors, small group leaders, and departmental engagement opportunities.
TBL INDIVIDUAL MENTOR
The program is currently seeking 57 mentors for individual mentoring. Mentors are expected to meet with their mentee 1-2 times per semester and communicate with them monthly throughout the academic year. If interested, please complete the URL document by Aug. 20 at 11:59 p.m. SIGN UP HERE to be a mentor.
TBL SMALL GROUP LEADER
All TBL students meet with a small group each month. We need 8-12 small group leaders. The time commitment would by five (5) hours per month. Email Joyce.Webb@tulsacc.edu if you would like to serve as a TBL Small Group Leader.
Each TBL student is expected to participate in at least 30 service and engagement hours per semester. These opportunities are “TCC specific.” Examples include: Assisting on TCC committees, interview teams, college-wide recruitment events, welcome tables, Foundation events and more!
Do you have any opportunities with which TCC TBL students can assist? We would love to provide opportunities from your department, we just ask that you attend a TBL monthly meeting to present and train students on the opportunity. Email Joyce.Webb@tulsacc.edu if you would like TBL assistance with your departmental events.
If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Student Life at StudentLeadership@tulsacc.edu. We appreciate your commitment to student success and look forward to your responses.
