50th Anniversary Notable Alumni Feature John Bobb-Semple: Growing up in a family of seven, John worked three part-time jobs to put himself through college. Between work and studies, he still found time to be involved in student government. “Tulsa Community College afforded me the opportunity to stand out and serve,” he said. He earned a Liberal Arts degree from TCC in 2007 and would go on to be president of the Oklahoma Student Government Association and earn a bachelor’s degree.

John draws a path from what he learned and how he learned at TCC to his development as an individual and his career in nonprofit leadership. From his work as Senior Director of Community Impact with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to his volunteer work, service is a big part of his life including his work as a founding board member for the Black Male Summit with the goal to end the cycle of incarceration and increase college degree completion.

“Learning alongside lifelong learners, concurrently enrolled high school students, first-generation college students, international students and students from across the spectrum prepared me to engage anyone and everyone,” he said. “As a leader, my TCC experience prepared me to make sure there was a place at the table for sometimes opposing but always important voices.”

In addition, he was selected for Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL program, serves as a Leadership Oklahoma City Youth Leadership Exchange board member and University of Central Oklahoma Foundation trustee.
