The next stop around the world in the Signature Symphony at Tulsa Community College 2016-2017 “World Passport: A Symphonic Excursion” season brings us to the U.S. and The Great White Way in “Big Band Broadway.” The performances begin at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 21 and 22 at the TCC Southeast Campus VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education at 81st Street and Highway 169.

“Big Band Broadway” features guest artist Debbie Gravitte, who is a Tony-award winning Broadway actress who has been a showstopper for nearly forty years on stage and screen. She brings her transcending voice to a night of jazz and swing music.

Gravitte will also conduct a master class at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 at the TCC Southeast Campus PACE Main Stage. She will work with students and the class is free and open to the public.

The 2016-2017 Pops Series also includes the return of a holiday tradition, “Christmas in Tulsa,” with Christmas carols from around the world. The evening also honors Tulsa’s own Larry Dalton who served for more than 25 years as Signature Symphony’s resident arranger/composer before his death in 2009. In conjunction with the 89th Academy Awards broadcast in February 2017, the Signature Symphony presents “Night at the Oscars” – a red carpet program featuring music from “The Godfather,” “Star Wars,” “The Mission,” “E.T.” and many more films. “Signature Celtic” takes us to Ireland with the American-Irish group Cherish the Ladies in April 2017.

Single ticket prices start at $12 for a Classics performance and $32 for a Pops performance. Signature Symphony at TCC is offering a Pick-4 season option for any four concert combination from the remaining Pops or Classics performances. Prices start at $48 for a Pick-4. Student tickets are available at discounted prices. For information on the 2016-2017 season including performance dates and times, go to www.signaturesymphony.org or call (918) 595-7777.

Signature Symphony at TCC, in collaboration with Tulsa-area schools and TCC, operates the Higher Scale Music Outreach Program. The program makes possible music instruction and experiences as part of the traditional school experience for students of all ages as part of our mission to enrich arts in Tulsa. Professional musicians from Signature Symphony teach viola, violin and cello classes to school-age children. The program engages students for up to four consecutive years. In addition, members of the Signature Quartet offer coaching sessions and performances for students in elementary, middle and high schools throughout each school year in Tulsa Public Schools and neighboring school districts.
