Think you can’t use lasers, weave or be creative? Step out of your comfort zone and try something new this fall in the I Can’t workshops at the Thomas K. McKeon Center for Creativity at 910 S. Boston Avenue on the Tulsa Community College Metro Campus. These workshops encourage participants to do something they think they can’t do in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, I Can’t workshops connect the community with local arts organizations where they can pursue their interests.

“We are excited to bring a new element to the I Can’t workshops this fall,” said Annina Collier, Dean and George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair of the Center for Creativity. “Not only can people try something new, they will meet representatives from the local arts community who can offer resources on how to explore these topics further. If participants find that they enjoy this new activity that they previously thought they couldn’t do, their experience can continue beyond our 45-minute workshop.”

The I Can’t workshops are held on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 21 and running through Nov. 16. These workshops are taught by TCC faculty and community artists and give students and the community a lunchtime break from the daily grind. All events are free and open to the public, with all supplies provided. Free parking is available in any TCC lot.

The series begins Sept. 21 with I Can’t Use Lasers with Fab Lab Tulsa as we check out Fab Lab’s new mobile lab and use laser cutting and engraving equipment to create unique works of art.
