Free Event Designed for Families and Fun

The 2017 Family Fun Fair at the Tulsa Community College West Campus offers fun games and activities, community resources and health screenings for the entire family. The Family Fun Fair is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 29 at TCC West Campus, 7505 W. 41st Street South.

Celebrating more than 30 years, this Tulsa tradition brings families together in a safe and educational environment and fosters early childhood development. It is free and open to the public and presented by the Tulsa Early Childhood Association in partnership with Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Child Care Resource Center, and Tulsa Community College.

The event is part of the national Week of the Young Child and showcases events and activities that are important to the development of children from birth to middle school.

“The Family Fun Fair is a fun environment for kids to learn and also offers developmental screenings, which helps parents raise healthy and happy children,” said PSO’s Carole Huff Hicks, Manager, External Affairs, Tulsa/Tulsa Metro. “Our company is proud to be part of this wonderful legacy to provide positive educational experiences for children.”

This event offers important screenings for children including speech, vision, and resources to measure a child’s development in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, growth, and fine motor skills. The Oklahoma Caring Van will provide free immunizations for eligible kids with the legal guardian present and a copy of the child’s current immunization records. Vizavance will hold vision screenings using a special camera that doesn’t require young children to verbalize letters or numbers and allows for the screening to be done at an earlier age.

Free hot dogs and chips will be given to the first 500 individuals. New this year, the City of Sand Springs as well as a few other businesses will show-off large construction vehicles for the children to climb in and explore and the Tulsa City-County Library will give away free books.
