Theatre Degree Details
At TCC, you’ll gain real-world experience through a full six-show theatre season. Our two-year improvisational comedy training builds confidence and spontaneity, while the WATT Festival gives student writers a chance to see their original work performed on stage. Your sophomore year, you'll learn to design sets, costumes, and lighting, and summer internships let students apply their skills behind the scenes.
After successfully completing this program, you will have the ability to:
- Work collaboratively as an ensemble in a technical or performance field.
- Analyze a play script as it relates to performances that embody the playwright’s and directors intentions.
- Discuss representative and varied scenes and monologues.
- Evaluate the use of body and voice effectively as the actor’s instruments of communication in a scene or monologue.
- Apply the different steps in the process of theatre design and construction.
- Evaluate major developments in theatre from historical, cultural, and stylistic perspectives.

A Six-Production Theatre Season
Students perform in a full six-show season, with freshmen taking the stage in their very first year. The season includes two community children’s theatre productions featuring young actors ages 6–17.
Two-Year Improvisational Comedy Training Program
Students receive hands-on training in improv comedy, learning quick-thinking, creativity, and collaboration through a structured two-year program.
Writer’s Alternative Trial Theatre (WATT Festival)
Student playwrights and screenwriters can bring their original works to life in a Reader’s Theatre setting, followed by live audience feedback to help develop their writing and storytelling skills
Summer Children's Theatre Internship Program
TCC Theatre students are hired as summer theatre interns. To gain real-world, hands-on experience, interns work as technical and performance assistants for a theatre camp for children aged 8-13 and a community, summer children's musical for ages 6-13.
