Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) Student Emergency Grants
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II), authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), and signed into law on December 27, 2020, provided funding to Colleges for emergency grants to students who have experienced expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Department of Education provided guidance to aid Colleges in how to distribute these funds. The U.S. Department of Education requires institutions to provide quarterly updates on the use of HEERF funds, the following information is in compliance with this requirement. On April 11, 2020, Tulsa Community College entered into an Agreement with the U.S. Department of Education that allowed TCC to distribute CARES grants to students. This original agreement is still in effect and constitutes TCC’s ongoing agreement with the U.S. Department of Education. TCC is authorized to distribute $3,990,147.00 in HEERF II grants to eligible students consistent with the guidance provided by the U.S. Department of Education. Tulsa Community College began awarding monies to federally eligible students during the Spring 2021 semester. The College used a tiered approach to distribute funds based upon Title IV federal student aid eligibility and estimated family contribution (EFC), focusing on students with the greatest demonstrated need:
