The ASL Studies option at TCC gives students an opportunity to acquire an understanding of the deaf community as a part of human diversity and acquire American Sign Language skills. The courses are designed to emphasize the acquisition of American Sign Language and knowledge with an appreciation of deaf culture and the language. This option complements upper division coursework related to ASL teaching, ASL research, and ASL linguistics at a four-year university.

“The campuses are really convenient for where I live, and attending for my degree is free through Tulsa Achieves,” Clayton said. “My advice to incoming students is to not care about what other people think and pay attention to deadlines.”
