Mike Turpen is 2016 TCC Commencement Speaker

Former Oklahoma Attorney General and political pundit Michael C. Turpen will deliver the keynote address at the 46th annual Tulsa Community College Commencement Ceremony. Turpen is an Oklahoma State Regent for Higher Education and has served since his appointment by Governor Brad Henry in May 2009.

Turpen grew up in Tulsa, graduated from McLain High School and graduated from The University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in History and a Juris Doctor degree.

“Mike Turpen uses his wit and sense of humor to share life lessons and he uses his energy to advocate for higher education,” TCC President & CEO Leigh B. Goodson, Ph.D. said. “Through his work and service, he is a strong supporter of education and worked across the state to raise scholarship money so students graduate college with less student debt.”

Since 1987, Turpen has been a partner in the law firm of Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a political pundit, he appeared weekly on Oklahoma City NBC affiliate KFOR’s award-winning public affairs show, “Flashpoint with Turpen & Humphreys.” He had a long-running monthly column, “Turpen Time,” for the OPEA monthly newspaper and was a featured columnist for Microsoft’s internet magazine, Slate.

TCC’s Commencement Ceremony is 7 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Mabee Center at Oral Roberts University, 7777 South Lewis in Tulsa.
