Tulsa Community College recognized 10 students, alumni, and employees with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing 100-plus volunteer hours in 2024.

Tulsa Community College recognized students and employees for their commitment to community service during the College’s first-ever President’s Volunteer Service Award ceremony. Ten individuals, including students, recent alumni, and employees, were honored for completing 100 or more verified volunteer hours during the 2024 calendar year.

“Service is a powerful part of education, and these individuals have gone above and beyond in their commitment to others,” says TCC President and CEO Leigh Goodson, Ph.D. “Their dedication shows what’s possible when we connect learning with action, and we are proud to celebrate the difference they’re making.”

The PVSA is a national honor led by AmeriCorps and administered by the Points of Light Foundation. It celebrates individuals whose service positively impacts their communities and inspires others to get involved. At TCC, the award honors those who have logged their volunteer hours through the College’s official platform, GivePulse.

Students/recent alumni:

  • Alonda Busse-Jones
  • Karla Campos
  • Natalee Evans
  • William Freeman
  • Hannah Lambe
  • Devin McNeil
  • Aaliyah Morris

Employees:

  • Lindsey Jensen – Career Services
  • Tina Peña – Associate Professor
  • Auggie Valadez – Volunteer Coordinator

Each recipient earned a certificate of achievement, medal, and lapel pin to recognize significant time spent contributing to causes including healthcare, education, youth development, and community support services.

PVSA recipient and TCC student Hannah Lambe served in the Emergency Department and Adult ICU at Ascension St. John Hospital in Tulsa.

“I learned from healthcare professionals during high stress and very busy moments. That experience has helped me in my own career as a CNA on a Surgical/Trauma unit. I am also very grateful for the nurses I met during my time at St. John,” says Lambe.

Lindsey Jensen, TCC Internship and Employment Specialist, volunteered as a den leader with the Boy Scouts of America. She guided a group of nine Cub Scouts, including her son, through years of leadership development.

“Serving these last few years has been an incredibly rewarding experience,” says Jensen. “I learned the true value of patience, teamwork, and mentorship. I learned that duct tape fixes a lot, snacks are essential, and that foil packets really are delicious. It was a privilege to play even a small role in shaping these kids' growth in becoming responsible, compassionate, and engaged members of the community."

PVSA award recipients collectively contributed 1,109 volunteer hours to support communities in Tulsa and beyond. Their efforts reflect the College’s ongoing commitment to civic engagement and the core belief that “Community is Our Middle Name.”
