Comedy, intrigue, betrayal and a fresh take on a classic farce are part of the Tulsa Community College Theatre Department’s 2015-2016 season. The productions begin with a five-act comedy by the French playwright Molière, “The Miser,” followed by “One Man, Two Guvnors,” “The Lion in Winter,” and Elton John and Tim Rice’s “Aida.”

In addition to the three plays and one musical, the TCC Theatre Department’s popular Die Laughing Improvisational Comedy Troupe will perform at the TCC Metro Campus and TCC Southeast Campus during the 2015-2016 season.

“TCC’s Performing Arts program has nearly 200 Theatre and Music majors and within our expanding program we have 1,000 enrollments in theatre or music specific classes,” said Coordinator of TCC Theatre Department and Assistant Professor Mark Frank. “TCC Theatre students are involved in all aspects of a show’s production from acting to set designing and even sewing the costumes starting the first semester on campus.”

The TCC Theatre Department will have several guest actors during the year. The season opener will pair Justin Mayer with TCC students Kurt Bennett and Jacque Weiden for the three main roles in the show. Bennett is a freshman theatre major from Tulsa and Weiden is a sophomore theatre major from Owasso. In addition, both are members of the Die Laughing Improvisational Comedy Troupe. Mayer is from Tulsa but completed a two-year acting conservatory program at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
