TCC 50 Notable Alumni

50th Anniversary Notable Alumni Feature Tim Lyons: Tim credits his Tulsa Junior College, now Tulsa Community College, experience as a core part of his education which helped prepare him for his career. He is President and CEO of TTCU Federal Credit Union, which is the second largest credit union in Oklahoma. Working at TTCU for nearly 30 years, he has overseen the institution’s rapid growth, opening multiple new branches and a 90,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in south Tulsa.

He studied economics and computers in 1980 and 1988. He remembers taking a computer class, Lotus 123, one of the earliest versions of electronic spreadsheets. He said, “At the time, hardly anyone was using computers, let alone electronic spreadsheets. The skills I learned propelled my career by automating the financial duties, which allowed me to spend my time focusing on strategic issues rather than daily number crunching.”

A leader in education and in the community, Tim serves on the boards of not only the TCC Foundation, but also Oral Roberts University, the Tulsa Area United Way and the Tulsa Regional Chamber. He's also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Temple Foundation which supports education initiatives.

Under Tim’s leadership, TTCU spearheaded Support our Schools, which generated more than $2.8 million for Oklahoma school districts and helped create the School Pride debit card program, resulting in more than $1 million donated to local school districts since the program’s inception. In 2017, Tim was awarded the Spirit of Innovation award from the Foundation for Tulsa Schools.
