Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) Certification

Through TCC’s Continuing Education Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, students will learn:

  • How to respond to trauma emergencies
  • How to assess mass casualty and triage patients
  • How to treat cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies
  • How to use a variety of medical knowledge to be successful as an EMT

EMSP 1119 - Emergency Medical Technician Course

Study of modules of EMT preparatory activities, basic airway management, patient assessment, shock medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, pediatrics, geriatrics, obstetrics, and EMT operations. Includes blood sugar determination, intravenous therapy maintenance, and the performance of lifting and moving. Practicum skills are an integral part of the course. Under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor, the student will attend field and/or hospital clinicals that require certain immunizations and liability insurance. American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification will be required during the course.

Program Participation Requirements

  • Have a valid photo ID
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
