TRIO/EOC Goal

To increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions.


TRIO/EOC Purpose

Provide precollege information and counseling to eligible adults 19-years-old and older who want to enter, re-enter or transfer to a postsecondary education program.


TRIO/EOC Objectives

  1. Assist 1,000 eligible individuals

  2. Assist eligible clients obtain their high school diploma/equivalency certificate

  3. Assist eligible clients apply for some type of financial aid

  4. Assist eligible clients apply for admissions to ANY postsecondary education institution

  5. Assist eligible clients enroll in a postsecondary education


TRIO/EOC Services for eligible clients at NO COST

High School Equivalency (GED/HiSet) Assistance

  • Information on high school equivalency (GED/HiSet) classes

  • Online Tutoring for GED, HiSet, ACT, SAT or other precollege exams (multilingual)

  • GED/HiSet test vouchers for eligible clients who are low-income or in financial hardship


Financial Aid Assistance

  • Information on different types of financial aid - i.e. Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), federal student loans, federal work-study, scholarships, and Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG)

  • Information and guidance on financial aid processes - i.e. verification process and setting up a payment plan

  • Reviewing outstanding balances, defaulted loans, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

  • Creating and resetting FSA IDs

  • Completing the FAFSA


Postsecondary Admissions Assistance

  • Information and guidance on admission processes to ANY postsecondary education institution - i.e. applications, placement testing, orientation, campus tours

  • Information on ANY trade/vocational, 2-year or 4-year schools and opportunities - i.e. profit vs. non-profit schools, cost of tuition, location, scholarship opportunities and length of programs


Postsecondary Enrollment Assistance

  • Information and guidance on the enrollment processes to ANY postsecondary education institution - i.e. academic advising, course/degree planning, obtaining a student ID, and study habits


Career Literacy

  • Information and guidance on a variety of career paths - i.e. assessment, advising, job shadowing/mentorship


Personal Finance Literacy

  • Information and guidance on financial literacy - i.e. building/improving credit score, budgeting, saving/checking/investing accounts, emergency fund and retirement


Community Resources

  • Information on English as a Second Language (ESL) classes

  • Information on literacy (reading and writing) classes

  • Information on basic computer classes

  • Information on transportation services

  • Information on childcare providers

  • Information on health services

  • Information on food pantries


TRIO/EOC Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen

  • Be at least 19-years old

  • Reside in Tulsa, Creek or Osage County

  • Have not obtained a four-year college degree and interested in pursuing a higher education program

Preference to individuals who are low-income (150 percent below poverty level) AND potential first-generation college students. First-generation is defined as individuals for whom neither parent has a four-year college degree.


TRIO/EOC Intake Process to Sign Up
