Tulsa Regional Fire Academy Information
EMT-B Certification Preferred
The Tulsa Regional Fire Academy is a semester long course beginning August 2018. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Classes will consist of a challenging combination of classroom, skills training, and physical fitness in a paramilitary environment. After successful completion of the academy, students will meet the minimum requirements to be employed as a firefighter in the State of Oklahoma and will hold certifications in FF1, FF2, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, FLAG, Advanced Auto Extrication, Advanced Fire Behavior, Wildland Firefighting and more.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must apply for admission to TCC – background check and drug test is required. Meningitis and other vaccinations may be required (County Health Departments may offer these free of charge)
- Must submit separate Fire Academy application – submit your application early for best opportunity of admission
- Must submit Sports Physical/Signed Doctor’s Release with Fire Academy Application
- Must possess and submit copy of high school diploma or GED
- Must possess and submit copy of valid Oklahoma Driver License
- Must submit proof of Insurance
- EMT preferred, but not required

Fire Academy Application, Doctor’s signed Physical or Release, copy of Oklahoma driver license and proof of insurance are to be submitted to the Fire Academy office in person no later than JUNE 1, 2018. For more information please call Chief Greta Hurt at (918) 596-1989.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE PLACEMENT IN THE ACADEMY.
Sponsored Applicants: First priority of enrollment is given to applicants who are paid or volunteer firefighters of a fire department. Sponsoring department must provide a letter stating department will be responsible for Fire Academy student fees.
Volunteer Applicants: Volunteer firefighters must have completed one year of volunteer service for priority enrollment.
Individual Applicants: Must submit completed application. Applicants who meet all requirements are placed in the following order: Any carryovers from previous class not admitted due to lack of space, Paramedics and EMT’s, applicants who will have EMT certificate of completion by the time the Fire Academy begins. Groups are prioritized by date complete application is received by Fire Academy office.
